Rams' Todd Gurley making NFL debut Sunday

He may not get too many snaps, but St. Louis Rams rookie Todd Gurley will make his NFL debut today against the Steelers.

Gurley suffered a torn ACL last November while a member of the Georgia Bulldogs, in his first game back from a dubious NCAA suspension - he was forced to sit after accepting money for signing his own signature on memorabilia (one of several dumb NCAA rules, in our humble opinion).

Despite the injury, the Rams still considered Gurley enough of a talent to make him the 10th overall pick in the draft this year. It was the first time in three years a running back was taken in the first round.

Because it invested so much in Gurley, St. Louis has brought him along slowly, and he may not get many carries. NFL Network's Steve Wyche reported this morning that Rams coaches have been getting Gurley practice with the first-team offense for the last two weeks, including full contact work. Wyche said a teammate hit him in his repaired left knee and Gurley bounced up and remarked that he was glad to get that first hit over with.

No matter how many carries he gets, Gurley is excited to play:

It's Gameday Yessirr!!

The Rams' offense could use the help: they have just 30 first downs through two games, second-fewest in the NFL behind Cleveland.
